Hello! My name is Josue pronounced hoesway. I post and repost what attracts to me. I live in the Fabulous Las Vegas. Chef, Dreamer and Lover! Follow me or not? It's up to you!!
The main complaints about jpop that kpop stans have is that 1) there are too many members, and 2) they are too ~~cute~~. So here are 5 girl groups that I have selected specifically because they have a standard number of members like in kpop, they don’t make cutesy songs, and they have real dance/vocal talent.
If you listen to BlackPink, CLC, 4 Minute, and Sistar:
1. Happiness
7 Members: 2 Vocalists, and 5 Dancers. Some of the best live performances in the Asian music industry tbh. Their current music is fun, catchy pop with sexy attitude. My fave girl gang.
Happiness ~ Ordinary Girls
If you listen to Twice, Red Velvet, GFriend, Lovelyz, AOA:
2. Fairies
5 members: 2 main vocals, 3 sub-vocals. You think they’ll make cutesy music, but then they don’t. Their songs move around genres. “Synchronized” was very house/edm. “Hey!Hey! Light Me Up!” was retro inspired, complete with synth and 80s dance moves. One of their newer MVs, “Bangin’” is R&B, hiphop inspired. The full length MV drops in June, but for now, the PV is enough to show you what they’re made of.
Fairies ~ Bangin’
If you listen to Mamamoo, Bolbbalgan4, IU, Ailee:
3. Tokyo Girl’s Style
A 4 member vocal group that debuted over a decade ago. They’re industry veterans and you can always trust their comebacks. Since the members are older, the music is more mature and classy compared to the usual fun and bubbly of jpop.
Tokyo Girl’s Style ~ Water Lily
If you listen to BlackPink, Mamamoo, Sistar, Heize:
4. Faky
A 4 member group with top notch vocalists. Their style is very R&B/Soul, but they do still make pop music. A little underrated tbh; though they have a larger international following. They all speak English.
Faky ~ Someday We’ll Know
If you listen to 2Ne1, BlackPink, 4Minute, Sonamoo:
5. Bananalemon
Powerful 4 member rookie group. Their music is inspired by 90s R&B groups like TLC and Destiny’s Child. They’ve been gaining international attention because they have a half-black member: Saarah. They were at Kehlani’s show in Japan as well, which is pretty cool for a brand-new rookie group.
